Pros:
BIG Display. Almost like a laptop. Does long trips better than predecessor model 2620.
Does not flip out when off route.
PC Nation did what they promised...No complaints with them.
Cons:
Slow to dim on Auto Dim. White screen too bright. Should be a softer color like 2620, yellow. Very unstable mounting. Like a small childs head on it's small neck. I had to brace it to my windshield and put foam under both sides to keep it from breaking in it's mount.
Has no Sunrise/Sunset feature nor does it have a distance ruler that you can drag to find out how far like my old 2620 did. Very weak volume...I had to add an amplified external speaker to hear it underway. Non-amplified speaker still was not enough. Does not show Weigh Stations for Semi-Truck like 2620 did. I don't like the new style map that they are all going to. There must be a good reason they are doing it but I still don't like it. The newest map still does not have my 6 year old street listed in its' software. Sigh...
Comment:
I am a long-haul truck driver. I bought a Garmin 2620 Street Pilot in 2004 and have used it every day, 10 hours a day since then. It finally started locking up and flickering so I "upgraded" to the 7200.
It appears to me that Garmin is catering to the novelity crowd with their new units rather than to real professionals who are going to use these things as a work tool. I am deeply disappointed with this unit and will toss it when someone comes out with a professional drivers tool instead of a toy.
