Pros:
After a few weeks of using this lens it is providing results I expect; w/steady hand clear images from F/1.4 to 4.0. I have not engaged a tripod for Bulb or other low light situations. I expect, (being digital), this will only improve the lens performance. It was a pleasure to buy from PCNation online.
Cons:
Compared to my Minolta MD Rokkor-X lens for my film system, the outside feel and appearance are poor. I do not engage AF and the manual focus on this lens is not smooth. Worse, the focusing ring does not stop turning when it gets to limit! I read about this in other reviews before I purchased; it was NOT a deal breaker.

This all said, it''s the "Gl" that matters most. Canon generates one of the best gl lens in the world; this fast F/1.4 lens is proof. For the price and being a perfect "all around" lens for your Canon system, buy it!

Pros:
Light weight. Near L quality lens. Fast focusing. Quite operation. Great bokeh.
Cons:
Can''t really give this lens any negatives considering the price and quality you get. It''s not perfect, but perfect for the price
Comment:
Very difficult to really rate this lens since it pretty much sits alone in it''s cl. Compared to the 50L it''s not as sharp wide open but sharper when stopped down from 2.0 and up. The bokeh and color contrast are very good. Mind you, it''s no 50L but it''s also $1200 cheaper. Considering the price point, I think one would do much injustice to this lens and others who are considering purchasing if you are going to "nit pick" details. It''s an incredible value and it''s performance far exceeds it''s expectations from it''s price point. For those considering light weight and quality at a good price, don''t waste another minute searching the web for reviews that will push you to pull the trigger. Just do it and you will not regret.

Pros:
very useful focal length on full frame camera, low light performance, beautiful bokeh and color, small and lightweight, fast focusing
Cons:
not inner focusing, on x1.6 dslr cameras, there are better substitutions
Comment:
This lens works beautifully on my 5d. This is the lens that I use most of the time since 50mm on FF camera is sooooo useful for everything. However, on my 40d which has 1.6 crop factor, this lens becomes outdoor portrait lens, which can be better substituted by canon 85mm f1.8. For indoor ing, sigma 30mm f1.4 worked better for me. If you use full frame dslr or film camera, this lens performs superbly just about anywhere, anytime.

Pros:
Fast AF, sharp and excellent contrast stopped down to f/2.8 and smaller, lightweight.
Cons:
soft and low contrast at f/1.4, improves at f/2.0, focus ring has a little slack - MF feels inferior.

Overall a good value!

Pros:
it''s compact, very clean focus, very adaptable for portraits or objects. For me, it''s a lens I can''t do without. I love it.
Cons:
It feels a bit narrow - like I can''t really get everything I used to be able to get w/my 50mm lens on my canon AE1. I know there are technical explanations for this, but it''s just something to note
