This unit is replacing a Tripplite unit that I thought was a quality unit but have since learned otherwise. Very pleased with this product.

Pros:
Comes with all the cables you would expect. Software is excellent. LCD adds to value.
Cons:
APC website has a chart showing battery runtime under various loads. If you don''t take it TOO seriously, you won''t be disapppointed.
Comment:
This is the 2nd unit of this type that I bought. One for power PC and one for entertainment center equipment. No regrets, to date ... and we get PLENTY of thunderstorms in this area with more than the average amount of brief power outages. (More like "blinks" but enough to play hell with equipment.)

You can''t beat this item for the price and all the features. I paid twice this amount for a much lesser unit.

I am scraping-out all of the Ultra UPS''s from my office and replacing them with APC. The Ultra''s are failing and demonstrate poor reliability.

Replaced a TrippLite SMART1500LCD which was anything but smart. Battery display constantly read 60% charge (on first and replacement unit), no load indicator, software was horrible, unit just plain shut itself off and died after 2 years and 3 months. The 1500 RS that replaced it is far superior, can run without a battery, gives correct readings, love it.

Pros:
1. LCD is great with lots of useful info.
2. Works well and as advertised.
3. It''s made by APC.
Cons:
Very heavy (over 30 lbs), but that should be expected.
Comment:
Note that dual fans in the back kick in only when the UPS is running on battery, so don''t worry if the UPS is online and you do not hear or feel the fans spinning.

I''m very happy with this backup. The system was easy to set up, including software and cable to shut the system down in case I am not around during the power outage. Great for a small business or homeowner with a computer that needs to stay online for a while during an outage.
