Pros:
Fast, reliable, lightweight. Installation is painless - double click on scansnap installer, then connect the S300M with USB cables that come in the box. Operation - it just works - press scan, click how you want the file handled (to folder, e-mail, or iphoto), name it and click ok. No fussing. Speedy, too. Design - Looks good, feels solid, and it takes up very little desktop space.
Cons:
No Optical Character Recognition Software included. However, under short time period the company will send one via rebate.
Comment:
Although the CardIris for ScanSnap software is not completely accurate I am really glad that I purchased the S300M. It works great with both my iMac and MacBook Pro.

Pros:
FAST! Quality is very good and unit is easy to use. Set up is quick and you are up and scanning in minutes.
Cons:
None really. Setting up the different presets is a little time consuming but once it''s done it''s done. OCR software isn''t included but currently a promo gets you one for free.
Comment:
I received this on a Wednesday and by Sunday I was paperless. It effortlessly scanned all my doents and I was able to organize it all very quickly. Can''t wait to try the OCR software when it arrives. I would highly recommend this unit!

Pros:
Cons:
Large, heavy.
Paper bits escape if you forget to empty before it gets full.
Comment:
Did a lot of neurotic research.
Have a small home office in New York. Very small space, but I got this one anyway. BC it has castors, the size is actually OK. And the height is better for shredding since you don''t have to bend down as much.
Just got this & pretty happy with it. I like to make a long-term investment in quality stuff, even if it''s just a shredder. This seems like it will last me a while.
Good luck!

Pros:
Outstanding scanner - works great, scans quickly, and can handle just about anything you throw at it. The auto-duplex is quite a time saver! Scans multiple s of different sizes, orientations, and color attributes into one pdf file if desired.
Cons:
Setup instructions a little vague - you need to set up the profiles on your own, they are not automatically installed. A little more flexibility on automatic file name generation would be a plus.

Pros:
Excellent over all - great software very easy set-up - excellent resolution and speedy. The duplex scanning and color accuracy are both tops
Cons:
The plastic paper support extender is a little flimsy but not enough to down grade the scanner. I believe it is a compromise due to the small portable size.
Comment:
I have a law firm home office and the small footprint and excellent quality plus it is very solidly built, make this a must have scanner for the paper free office.
